BIRD was founded in September 2017 by Travis VanderZanden in Venice, California. Since its start, the organisation has been focusing on last mile electric vehicle sharing solution dedicated to bringing low-cost, environmentally-friendly transportation alternatives to communities around the world. BIRD currently operates its vehicle sharing model in over 100 cities in North America and the EM region. This summer, BIRD partners with Wonder Buckle. Aiming at getting more people out of their cars when it matters most, BIRD offers free starts (no unlocking fee) to all riders in Paris on days the air pollution reaches alarming levels. To reward BIRD riders that contribute to improving the cities air quality,  BIRD and Wonder Buckle offer a limited edition of the "Aujourd'hui, je BIRD pour Paris" Wonder Buckle.
